Incorporated in 1869 and named "one of the best places to live" by CNN, Winnetka is an affluent village approximately 20 miles north of Chicago. • Winnetka Community House This striking village institution is on the National Register of Historic Places. It's a popular spot for weddings and other special occasions.
• The Book Stall This literary gem was named the "#1 Independent Book Store in the Country" by Publisher's Weekly. Famous for an extremely knowledgeable staff and author signings and readings, both adults and children alike will find treasured tomes here.
• Platform Tennis & Paddle Hut Serve it up at the Winnetka Park District Platform Tennis & Paddle Hut, one of the only public facilities in the Midwest. • The Village of Winnetka features four distinct shopping districts, each with their own unique charm:
  • East Elm Shopping District Discover traditional and contemporary architecture, upscale fashion boutiques, jewelry stores, antique dealers and a lovely art gallery in the East Elm Shopping District.
  • Hubbard Woods Shopping District Nestled on the northern edge of the village where you'll find quaint courtyards and charming Tudor-style buildings, the "old world" atmosphere is a common theme in many of the shops here.
