In 1935, two young developers, Carlton Smith and Allen Dawson, built their first homes on farmland along Elmhurst Road as the start of a well-planned community. A development firm worked with the resilient, caring families to create and maintain a responsible community in which they could raise their children with pride. The 1960s boom led to the citizen’s vote to incorporate and the City of Prospect Heights was born.
Today, Prospect Heights is a community of single-family half-acre homes, multifamily areas, as well as increasing numbers of businesses and centers of economic development. Parks, hotels, restaurants and entertainment options offer visitors multiple options to enjoy this lovely suburban city.
Chicago Executive Airport is the state of Illinois’ third busiest airport, and is jointly-owned by the City of Prospect Heights and the Village of Wheeling. Today, professional and recreational pilots alike appreciate convenient location and professional atmosphere. Located just outside the congested O'Hare airspace, the airport is within minutes of Chicago's prestigious north shore communities and only a short drive to downtown Chicago.
