STUNNING SETTINGS

Dine along the Des Plaines river and with a bowl of caramelized French onion soup with Gruyere and provolone crouton? Allgauer’s on the Riverfront (2855 N. Milwaukee Ave., Northbrook) delivers delicious cuisine in a special outdoor setting. Tucked away – think Secret Garden – find your way to some amazing Greek delights at Avli (566 Chestnut St, Winnetka).  Enjoy the endless greens of the Glenview Park Golf Club while eating authentic rustic fare at Coarse Italian (800 Shermer Rd, Glenview).

GOOD MORNING SUNSHINE

Breakfast outdoors is what summer is about! Two great options on Oakton Street in Skokie are Annie’s Pancake House (4900 Oakton St., Skokie) and Alexander’s Breakfast and Lunch (5025 Oakton St, Skokie).  On Sunday, walk over to the Skokie Farmer’s Market a few blocks away.  Avocado toast on your mind or prefer some crunch granola? Try out Hometown Coffee & Juice (700 Vernon Ave, Glencoe).

COVERED OASES

Outdoors but covered – the best of both worlds? Venture out to Pinstripes (1150 Willow Rd, Northbrook) so much space to enjoy your meal. Happ Inn (305 N. Happ Rd, Northfield,) brings their favorite fare to their adjacent tent – ribs, burger, salads, fried chicken – you choose! EJ’s Place (10027 Skokie Blvd, Skokie) has the largest tent on the North Shore – white table cloth and all.  Shrimp, steak, this classic North Shore staple makes your dinner feel like a special occasion.

LOVE THY NEIGHBOR

Chicago’s North Shore is blessed with abundance of outdoor dining options. Some streets and areas are lucky to share in the chow down fun. On Chicago Avenue in Downtown Evanston, Chef Debbie Gold rejoins restaurateur Amy Morton at Found Kitchen and Social House (1631 Chicago Ave., Evanston). Its "flexitarian menu" is vibrant in flavor as well as color; highlighting local ingredients and a shared plate menu with a strong vegetarian focus. Next door, Prairie Moon (1635 Chicago Ave, Evanston) delivers dishes prepared authentically, but with a “Moon-twist” including Pine-Nut Trout, Cedar-Planked Salmon, a variety of Po’Boys, Brick Chicken and Martha’s Vineyard Salad are some popular favorites. Head on over to Westfield Old Orchard (Old Orchard Rd. and Skokie Blvd.) and have a broad range of dining options all within the confines of a beautifully landscaped outdoor shopping center. Options with great outdoor spaces include Hampton Social, Uncle Julio’s, California Pizza Kitchen, Nando’s Peri Peri and Buffalo Wild Wings…and there more mouth watering options beyond these!
