Ravinia has been an American institution since 1904; an unofficial summer home of the Midwest where artists come to share and celebrate the joy of live music. As the United States commemorates the 250th anniversary of our Declaration of Independence this summer, they are celebrating a wide range of genres and reflections of American music, from hip-hop and pop to classical and country. Their schedule is packed with American musicians, and the classical programming specially features works by American composers and themes that honor the spirit and history of the nation.
Highlights include:
- Friday, July 24, at 8:00 p.m. in the Hunter Pavilion: Breaking Barriers Festival
- Sunday, July 26, at 1:30 p.m. in the Martin Theatre: Chanticleer
- Friday, July 31, at 7:30 p.m. in the Hunter Pavilion: Good News Mass
- Saturday, Aug. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Hunter Pavilion: John Williams Piano Concerto
