Live at Studio5! presents blues legend Corky Siegel is dubbed a “National Treasure" by DOWNBEAT MAGAZINE, and known internationally as: “A master of piano and harmonica, a superior entertainer, singer and songwriter.”- CHICAGO MAGAZINE. He is a Chicago Blues Hall of Fame inductee, and Lifetime Achievement awardee, with a catalogue of recordings on RCA, Vanguard, Alligator, and million selling blues/classical recordings on the iconic Deutsche Grammophon label. Founder of the popular Siegel-Schwall Band and the innovative Chamber Blues project, Corky continues to expand horizons. Kalyan Pathak is a composer, musician, drummer and percussion player of a multi cultural experience covering a wide stylistic base. Born in Ahmedabad, India, he formally trained from ages 9-15 in Classical Tabla with Ustad Kader Khan. Later an apprenticeship with the most prominent drummer, Mr. Ranjit Barot, brought teenaged Kalyan to Bombay in the mid 80’s. Kalyan did regular studio session work in Bollywood, and toured throughout India playing with jazz and rock music bands. Kalyan came to Chicago in 1991 and has become one of the busiest virtuoso tabla/multi-ethnic percussionists in the country, performing with international artists such as, Aretha Franklin, Regis Philbin, Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Theordore Bikel, as a soloist with Elgin Symphony Orchestra and San Francisco Ballet, collaborative group member with Fareed Haque, Howard Levy, and Fulcrum Point New Music Project.
