If you want to go full traditional, Jameson’s Charhouse (9525 N. Skokie Blvd., Skokie) tops theirs with melted Gruyere cheese in a crock. Then Guildhall Restaurant (694 Vernon Ave., Glencoe) goes all out with an insanely delectable French Onione Foundue: caramelized sweet onions, brandy, and gruyere cheese fired in a wood oven and served with fresh herbs and toasted Publican Quality Bread. Onions, veal broth, toasted crouton, parmigiano reggiano, gruyere, and crispy onions comprise Convito Cafe & Market's (1515 Sheridan Rd., Wilmette) delectable French Onion soup which will fill you up with warmth and flavor.
