Sides and Soups: Savory and Sweetish
Known for their Neapolitan-style wood fired pizzas, Grateful Bites Pizza Shoppe‘s (899 Green Bay Rd., Winnetka; curbside only) Coconut Curry Soup simmers chicken breasts or thighs in coconut milk with zucchini half-moons or other vegetables like kale, red bell pepper, or snap peas. The Sweet Potato Casserole from Ruth’s Chris Steak House (933 Skokie Blvd., Northbrook; curbside or delivery) proves the legendary steak house knows about more than meat. Top these taters with a savory pecan crust or go rogue with a scoop of vanilla ice cream to make it dessert.

Lunch: Hearty Midday Fuel
If you’re looking for a little challenge, try Mother’s Little Helper from City Works Eatery and Pour House (365 W. Dundee Rd., Wheeling). Their essential “hangover bowl” takes Southern classic pork and grits and ups the ante with braised bacon and a smoked tomato charred scallion relish. Or fire up your griddle for a Latin cuisine night inspired by La Cocinita Restaurant (1625 Chicago Ave., Evanston; curbside or delivery). Their homemade Venezuelan Arepas (cornmeal patties similar to pita pockets) can be filled with whatever meat, eggs, veggies, and cheeses you have on hand.

Entrées: Chicken Three Ways
Bonefish Grill (9310 Skokie Blvd., Skokie; curbside or delivery) doesn’t rest on their seafood laurels. For their Lilly’s Chicken, stack chicken breasts with spinach, goat cheese, artichokes, lemon butter, and fresh basil and place under the broiler to let the magic happen. Enjoy authentic Caribbean flavors at home with the Stuffed Jerk Chicken recipe from Good to Go Jamaican (711 Howard St., Evanston; curbside or delivery) packed with mozzarella, spinach, and a “handful of fresh garlic.” Sunday dinner is covered with traditional Mediterranean notes of oregano, lemon, and olive oil in Greek Roasted Chicken “Rigannati” and Potatoes from Plateia Mediterranean Kitchen and Bar (9860 N. Milwaukee Ave., Glenview; curbside or delivery).

Pasta: Carbs for Days
Although temporarily closed, CMX CineBistro Old Orchard (Westfield Old Orchard, Skokie) has a blockbuster CMX Bacon Mac and Cheese recipe you can try. The bacon may be optional but the sharp cheddar, mild cheddar, Velveeta, and ground Cheez-Its are mandatory. Popular Italian trattoria Francesca’s North (1145 Church St., Northbrook; curbside or delivery) shares the recipe for their crowd pleaser Pasta al Fagottaro. Use super fresh ingredients and follow each step as you blanche the tomatoes and deglaze the white wine.

Desserts: Sweet Finales
Noted bistro Guildhall Restaurant (694 Vernon Ave., Glencoe; curbside only) added its name to the epic Guildhall Salted Dark Chocolate Pudding. The key to this deeply delicious dessert is pretty straight-forward: just mind the whisking instructions and allow it to cool a few hours in the fridge (if you can wait!). Pinstripes (1150 Willow Rd., Northbrook) knows how to entertain and their Anna’s Carrot Cake doesn’t disappoint. Crushed pineapple gives your homemade version a moist sweetness with the cinnamon/brown sugar combo crowned with your favorite cream cheese frosting. Sweet Ali’s Gluten-Free Bakery (1107 Waukegan Rd., Glenview; curbside only) puts a new twist on a classic. Pick up one of their gluten-free Pound Cakes (available for pickup or shipped) as your Boston Cream Pound Cake base and add pudding and ganache.
