Referred to by Richard Milne (WXRT) as "the hardest-working drummer in Chicago", GERALD DOWD is a Boston-born, Chicago-made musician. As a drummer and singer, he's played and recorded extensively with everyone from Robbie Fulks, Nora O'Connor, Justin Roberts, Frisbie and Jason Narducy, to Mavis Staples, Michael Shannon and Cesar Rosas. He's toured locally and internationally for the last 30 years with these and many other artists, all while over the last dozen years releasing his own cheeky brand of Americana upon an unsuspecting public, sharing bills with Jeff Tweedy, Nellie McKay and Ian Hunter in the process. He's played on multiple Grammy-nominated albums, and has held 2 all-day music fundraisers in which he played for 13 hours straight, raising over $40,000 for local food banks. This show celebrates the release of his brand new album, FATHER'S DAY, consisting of his 11 original songs recorded and co-produced by musical legend Steve Dawson (Dolly Varden, Funeral Bonsai Wedding) at Kernel Sound Emporium in Wicker Park. Here, Gerald will front a band of well-known Chicago musicians who've played with Michael McDermott, Redd Volkaert and Peter Himmelman.
Admission Fee $12 - $22.
