Where to Celebrate the Dads in Your Life on Chicago’s North Shore This Father’s Day

Of course you want to show Dad (and all of the important men in your life) just how much he means to you this Father’s Day, but you don’t want to do the same thing that you always do either. Switch things up this year and take advantage of the many things to do on Chicago’s North Shore. Whether your Dad loves golf, barbecue or biking, there’s something he (and the entire family!) will love. Be sure to check out our Facebook page for Father's Day specials posted daily!

Go Golfing

If Dad loves to golf, spend some quality time together on the links this Father’s Day (or give him a gift that’s a hole in one!). Evanston boasts an 18-hole, par 60 course — Canal Shores Golf Course — but you can also golf five or 10 holes to suit every time frame and budget. In Wheeling, Chevy Chase Country Club’s golf course features 18 holes, and you can gift Dad with a Traditions Players Card so he can take advantage of benefits like $5 off every time he plays and 20 percent off all golf shop merchandise throughout the year. Or, book your tee time at Sportsman’s Country Club in Northbrook to enjoy an 18- or 9-hole course. No matter what you’re looking for, there are plenty of ways to enjoy a day of golf on Chicago’s North Shore. Find a complete list of local courses here.

Get Out and Play

There’s endless fun to be had at Skokie Sports Park, which has been rated one of the top 50 golf ranges in the country. Not only does this park feature a two-tier, 40-station range, but it also has batting cages and mini-golf, so you’ll easily be able to enjoy a full day of fun here.

Can You Solve This Escape Room?

If you haven’t yet checked out the escape room trend, Father’s Day is the perfect time to do so. At Lock Chicago in Evanston, your group will have one hour to work together and solve a variety of challenges in order to “escape” (doors are not locked at Lock Chicago) one of two rooms: Sunburn, a “light-based challenge room,” and Malfunction, a “mechanical challenge room.” Lock Chicago also features a Virtual Reality Arcade.

Enjoy Bowling, Bocce and Barbecue

Celebrate with a classic game of bowling or try bocce at Pinstripes in Northbrook. After you’ve worked up an appetite, try food items like Barbecue Chicken Pizza, Famous Prime Rib Dip, Baby Back Ribs and Boneless Short Rib. You can also treat Dad to Pinstripes’ Father’s Day barbecue brunch featuring made-to-order omelets, a waffle bar, carved prime rib, fresh seafood, barbecue favorites and more.

Bike the North Shore

Take advantage of beautiful weather by exploring the North Shore on your bikes. The best part? We’ve already created your route! Start in downtown Evanston before making your way to Northwestern, the Baha’i House of Worship and Chicago Botanic Garden, with a few more stops in between. You can also use our interactive trail map to plan your perfect ride.
