Where to Brunch on Chicago’s North Shore

After a long week at work, there’s nothing better than catching up with friends and family over delicious breakfast food. And if you can sleep in a little bit before you go, even better! Brunch is a must on the weekend, and you don’t have to travel far to get some delicious fare. From eggs and pancakes, to more traditional lunch items (if you’re not feeling breakfast anymore), here are some of the best brunch spots on the North Shore.

Farmhouse Evanston 
703 Church St., Evanston
Brunch is served at this farm-to-tavern restaurant on Saturdays and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Because Farmhouse is committed to using seasonal ingredients not only from the North Shore but also from around the Midwest, the menu changes frequently. However, your brunch table might include everything from starters like Warm Spiced Apple Cider Doughnuts and Beer-Battered Wisconsin Cheese Curds to entrees like Farm Eggs Benedict and Pecan Pie Brioche French Toast.

Farmhouse, Evanston

Blind Faith Cafe 
525 Dempster St., Evanston
Vegetarians, rejoice! This green restaurant is serving up meatless fare that's so good your meat-eating friends won't mind brunching here too. Blind Faith also uses seasonal ingredients, meaning the menu changes throughout the year, but look for brunch items like Apricot Banana Crepes, Gluten Free Banana Pancakes, Huevos Rancheros, and Pesto Goat Cheese Omelette. Brunch is served here on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Chicago Botanic Garden 
1000 Lake Cook Road, Glencoe
Yes, this must-visit destination on the North Shore is also the perfect brunch spot. (Who doesn't want to dine while surrounded by gorgeous plants and flowers?) Visit the Garden View Café on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for brunch fare (Turkey Sausage & Sweet Potato Skillet! Market Vegetable Quiche! Vanilla Gingerbread Pancakes!) that can be enjoyed inside or outside. In a hurry? Grab and go options are available daily starting at 8 a.m., and the barista can get your day started right with a gourmet coffee.

Chicago Botanic Garden, Glencoe

Allgauer's on the Riverfront 
2855 N. Milwaukee Ave., Northbrook
Allgauer's was named a Top 10 Restaurant for Sunday Brunches by OpenTable, and the Sunday Champagne Brunch is the largest brunch buffet in the Chicago area (so you know it's a must-visit). Served Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., you can dine on a huge selection of options like pastries, snow crab legs, eggs Benedict, omelettes, French toast, prime rib, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, breakfast potatoes, and even more.

Kaufman's Bagel & Delicatessen 
4905 Dempster St., Skokie
If you're craving brunch, but also crave staying in your PJs and eating as you catch up on that show everyone has been talking about, pick up breakfast to go at Kaufman's. From bagels like poppyseed, everything, pumpernickel and blueberry that you can spread with assorted cream cheeses to coffee cakes, specialty breads, potato pancakes, lox and much more, you can easily bring brunch home for yourself or a group.  

Saranello’s Restaurant 
601 N. Milwaukee Ave., Wheeling
This Italian restaurant serves a brunch buffet on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Start with a mimosa, which is included in the buffet, before heading to the egg and omelette station. You’ll also find fruit, cereal, waffles, pancakes, French toast, bacon, sausage, pasta, seafood, steak, and more. And don’t skip the dessert table, which includes assorted coffee cakes, Italian cookies, cupcakes, chocolate-dipped strawberries, and more.

Saranello's, Wheeling

Cafe Aroma

Before exploring Winnetka’s shopping district or making your way to the lake, fuel up with breakfast at this popular cafe. Breakfast is served daily until 2:30 p.m., so you can get items like Lox and Bagel, Spinach Omelet, Nutella Crepes, French Toast, and Banana Pancakes any day of the week. When the weather is nice, be sure to take advantage of the restaurant’s outdoor seating.

Jolane’s Cafe & Wine Bar

Start your weekend at this contemporary restaurant with European influences. Craving breakfast? Try the Lobster Scramble, Brie and Ham Crepe, or Short Rib & Hash. Ready for lunch? Opt for the Tuscan Chicken Panini, Salmon BLT, or Honey-Lime Shrimp Salad. You can also satisfy your sweet tooth with Strawberry Banana Nutella Crepes, Stuffed French Toast, or a doughnut from Glenview's Joe Donut. Weekend brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
