Connoisseurs, casual shoppers and newbies to art fairs have a lot to look forward to this summer. These open air festivals are great way to find gifts or enhance your home or yourself with beautiful paintings, photographs, fiber arts, jewelry, sculpture and tremendous variations of expression from the sublime to the delightful.

The vintage craze is alive and well as shoppers enjoy the hunt for extraordinary things while being environmentally friendly (reuse and repurpose!). This only all-vintage flea market around bursts with 75 vendors of all things classic and kooky. Find treasures from the 1880's through the 1990's in home decor, vintage clothing, vinyl, antiques, collectibles and so much more.

Set in Glencoe’s prestigious and historic downtown just blocks from Lake Michigan, the 13th annual festival offers 90+ juried artists showing and selling paintings, sculpture, ceramics, glass, jewelry and more. Family-friendly (and dog-friendly, too!) activities abound with crafting for kids and live artist demonstrations, as well as non-stop live music with restaurants offering delicious fare. Bring gently used wall art to donate to the Chicago Furniture Bank. Free with plenty of free parking; wheelchair and stroller accessible.

For the sixth year in a row, Downtown Evanston is hosting a Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest to bring color and design to city walkways with a friendly, artsy competition between businesses, artists and families. Part of the annual Sidewalk Sale, independent shops and national retailers will set up racks and tables with too-good-to-resist deals. Many area businesses will extend sales inside their stores, too. Be sure to check out the artists in action creating their colorful, yet temporary masterpieces.

The 19th Annual Art at The Glen outdoor festival hosts 140 juried artists showcasing and selling their one-of-a-kind pieces in a variety of mediums, including painting, photography, ceramics, furniture, jewelry, wood, fiber and more. Held in the elegant Glen Town Center, the event rocks with non-stop live music on three stages and activities. Art projects for kids add to the family-friendly vibe. Festival food and several restaurants entice just steps away from artists’ booths. Free admission, plus parking is free, close and plentiful.

Evanston Made and Downtown Evanston present Maker's Markets 2022 where shoppers buy direct from artists, artisans and makers! Outdoors, in a covered parking garage, this market features hundreds of unique and one-of-a-kind, handmade goods like art, craft, wearables, jewelry, stationary, handbags, etc. Markets are hosted on Sundays.

Throughout the summer, this monthly, fun-filled evening features a variety of artists, makers and retail shops with music by DJ Johnny Price and craft beer from Smylie Brothers Brewing Co. Visit Downtown Evanston on the first Thursday of each month when every market has a unique theme to bring in a variety of businesses and showcase local entertainment. Fountain Square is always bubbling with energy, color and fun in this community hot spot.

Wander the booths and enjoy high-end work from 130+ juried artists from around the country. Unique art pieces will be available for purchase at many price points. Perfect for experienced collectors or those looking for something special for their home, traditional mediums such as painting, sculpture and photography appear alongside unique, usable art, including handmade jewelry, one-of-a-kind furniture and accessories. See masters at work with live art demonstrations and one-on-one booth chats. Situated on the downtown streets amid Evanston’s great variety of specialty shops and restaurants, the free festival compliments a day of shopping, eating and browsing.
