Hoist Your Steins at Oktoberfests This Fall

Roll out the barrels and hoist a stein or two! Oom-pahleez indulge in these delicious and delightful Oktoberfests. German and Bavarian beers, specialty foods and raucous entertainment will fill the air with horns and accordions while you get your fill of lagers, pretzels and polkas. Danke!

Enjoy three lively days of local food, live music and games at the spacious Sketchbook taproom, brewery and beer garden in Skokie, their more intimate Evanston taproom or both! Taste three German beers (Märzen, Hefeweizen and Helles Lager) plus numerous other styles and NA options along with authentic German flavors and meat specialties. Art activities like pumpkin decorating will occupy all ages. Weekend rock concerts with awesome local bands will cheer grown-ups in back of the Skokie brewery (21+ and no cover). Try your hand at stein hoisting or their relaxed take on Hammerschlagen, a game involving two hammers (a wedge-shaped, not sharp end), a stump and some nails.

Grab a pint of the once-a-year Märzen-style Lager on tap, specially brewed for this celebration! Step out to the high-energy oompah sounds of Jimmy's Bavarians — a family-oriented band complete with their 12-foot-long alphorn. At 4:00, the feast begins with brats, pastrami, pretzels and more from Goodstuff Eats. With live music, dancing and a special beer release, this year’s party is a real celebration of community, tradition and a decade of brewing excellence. Próst!

Oktoberfest kicks off at lunchtime with Mary Macaroni & The Impastas playing before kiddos get face painting and balloon animals. Don’t miss the Polkaholics’ high-speed collision of polka and rock n' roll followed by Polka Hall of Famer Keith Stras & Polka Confetti. GABF Award-winning and seasonal beers (i.e., Helles Rauchbier Lager, Smooth Alternator Doppelbock, Kölsch), chow and cocktails fuel the festivities.

This outdoor music fest that takes over the entire 1800 block of Glenview Road features back-to-back live music from 12pm on, leading to headliners Prince and the Revolution Tribute Band at 8pm, as well as delicious bites and brews from local restaurants and fun family entertainment.
