This free family friendly event showcases vehicles that are Classic, Vintage, Antique and Muscle Cars/Trucks that are 25 years or older. Come as a spectator or bring your car to show off! Come out to Westfield Old Orchard on a Monday night this summer to check out these unique and special cars and stay for some shopping and dinner! Event entry is free for both spectators and show cars!

The sounds of summer are even sweeter in the open air. Evanston sets the scene with a series of free outdoor concerts at parks throughout the city. Enjoy talented artists and musical genres from jazz to classic soul to Southern rock and blues. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and snacks to hear Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience (July 5) and Manases Rivera & The Cepillao Band (July 12). Morry Sochat & The Special 20s play along with the Food Truck Festival on July 19.

Almost like a museum in motion, these 90-minute walking tours of Evanston neighborhoods, downtown and the lakefront offer a lively peek back in time. Docent-led tours reveal fun and fascinating insights into the city’s history, architecture and cultural landscape. Explore how different architectural styles popular for houses were applied to Historic Apartment Buildings (July 9). Well-known architect Daniel Burnham chose to live in what he called “bucolic Evanston.” Learn about his life and his relationship to the community while viewing local work he did (July 23). Reservations required.

This distinguished outdoor festival showcases 100+ juried artists from around the world presenting, demonstrating and selling paintings, sculpture, ceramics, glass, jewelry and more. Nestled amidst the upscale retail shops and galleries of charming downtown Glencoe, the fest hums with non-stop live music, fun art activities for kids and great food from restaurants and cafes on the festival route. Admission is free with plenty of free parking and a Metra stop nearby. The event is wheelchair and stroller accessible, plus totally dog-friendly!

This thriving community market features wonderful local food and beer-and-wine vendors in the heart of Northfield every Wednesday this summer. Clarkson Park boasts a new playground along with the bandshell and raingarden. Kids entertainment starts at 5:30 pm followed by a full concert at 6:30 pm: R&B and classic rock from Out of the Loop (July 13), Country and Southern-fried Rock with Ginger Road (July 20) and King Saturday (July 27) continues the classic rock mood.

Make a day of it in Glenview’s lovely Glen Town Center which boasts incredible shopping and dining experiences. Home to the 19th annual Art at the Glen, 140+ juried artists from near and far will exhibit and sell one-of-a-kind pieces in painting, photography, ceramics, furniture, jewelry, wood, fiber and more. Live music on three stages and activities and art projects for kids add to the family-friendly vibe. Festival food and several restaurants just steps away from the artists’ booths guarantee lots of mouth-watering options.
