Back-to-School: Get Ready at Shops Around Chicago's North Shore

Summer is (unfortunately) coming to an end and that means it’s time for back-to-school shopping. For some, this is a wonderful time filled with new pencils, crayons and clothes. For others, though, all those lists of required items can be daunting. Fortunately, Chicago’s North Shore is filled with shops where you can find everything you need, and maybe a deal or two as well.

Maya Papaya

Maya Papaya & Tony Macarony
1901 Central St., Evanston

Your kids will be best dressed on the playground when you shop at this favorite children’s shop. Plus, you can take advantage of free shipping on orders of $100 or more, free gift wrapping (if you’re spoiling a friend or family member’s little learner), or free local pick-up and delivery.

The Book Stall
811 Elm St., Winnetka

If you’re looking for a book your child will be reading during the school year, or simply want to encourage reading outside of the classroom, support your local bookstores. The Book Stall even offers a Children’s Book Club.

The Glen Town Center
2030 Tower Drive, Glenview

Enjoy a beautiful day outside as you do your back-to-school shopping at The Glen. Stock up on athletic gear and sporting equipment at Dick's Sporting Goods or visit the popular Von Maur for a stylish outfit or two.

Westfield Old Orchard

Westfield Old Orchard
Old Orchard Rd. and Skokie Blvd., Skokie

Westfield Old Orchard is the place to go for one-stop-shopping on the North Shore. Visit Nordstrom for that perfect first day of school outfit your preschool, elementary, middle and/or high school students will love. Old Orchard also features popular favorites like J.Crew, Justice and Forever 21 so you're sure to find something for everyone in the family. When you’re done (or need a break), stop by Adagio Teas for a refreshing iced tea.

Illinois Nut & Candy
3745 Dempster, Skokie

While probably not on any supply lists provided by your schools, why not pick up a sweet treat to share with your star students after a successful first day of school? When you’re done (or need a break), stop by California Pizza Kitchen, Corner Bakery Cafe, or Nando’s PERi PERi for a delicious meal.
