Chicago Botanic Garden: The Language of Flowers ­

Floral symbolism has inspired gardeners, artists and poets through the ages. Charming examples of the Victorian fascination with language of flowers are featured in this exhibit, which opens on Valentine's Day. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Tuesday hours are from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday hours are from noon to 4 p.m. Closed holidays. Free. Chicago Botanic Garden's Carillon Concert Series

The majestic beauty of carillon bells on a warm summer evening is one of the loveliest sounds in the Chicago Botanic Garden. The carillon bell tower,located on Evening Island, is a beloved icon. Visitors can pick up snacks and a bottle of wine from the Garden Café or bring a picnic dinner and enjoy it on the lawn by McGinley Pavilion, while taking in panoramic vistas. A kiosk offers cappuccino, espresso, and bottled beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, for purchase. Carillon tours at 5:30 PM. Concerts at 7 PM every Monday.
