Best Date Night Spots on Chicago’s North Shore

Feel like you always do the same old thing for date night (or rarely schedule one at all)? Fortunately, Chicago’s North Shore is filled with great date night options. Whether you’re looking for a fun experience or a new restaurant to try, here are some of the best spots for romance.

And parents, if you need someone to look after your kiddos for the night, check out College Nannies and Tutors. This company, which has locations in Glenview and Evanston, will help you find the perfect sitter, plus tutors and part-time or full-time nannies if you’re looking for someone to help your child with test prep or need more frequent assistance at home.

Spend time together exploring everything this museum has to offer, whether with a docent-led tour or on your own. The current exhibit, “If You Remember, I’ll Remember,” runs through June 18, and “We Are Revolutionaries: The Wall of Respect and Chicago's Mural Movement” opens April 21. You can also check out the museum’s list of upcoming events and films for date night inspiration.

1016 Davis St., Evanston

You might think of this studio as the perfect place to host a bachelorette party or spend girls’ night out, but it’s also a great date night spot. Bottle & Bottega Evanston frequently hosts BFFs & Couples (Singles Too!) events that are designed for pairs. Upcoming paintings include a Chicago skyline (April 22), a desert scene (April 28) and a forest sunset (May 6).

1000 Lake Cook Road, Glencoe

Enjoy a gorgeous day outside, strolling around the grounds of Chicago Botanic Garden hand-in-hand. CBG will host Grapevines & Wines May 11, and various concert series (Carillon Concert, Music on the Esplanade, Hot Summer Nights) throughout the summer for those looking to relax with a concert under the stars or maybe dance the night away.

What’s date night without a delicious meal? Start with Crispy Crab Beignets or Blackened Ahi Tuna before moving on to Pistachio-Crusted Grouper or Ginger Soy Glazed Center Cut NY Stip. End the evening with Lemon Ice Wine Cheesecake or Caramel Banana Bread Sundae. And don’t forget to stop by the Tasting Room to sample a variety of wines.

9501 Skokie Blvd., Skokie

The North Shore Center for the Performing Arts hosts a variety of shows and concerts, so you’ll always be able to find an event both of you will enjoy. Northlight Theatre’s “Relativity,” a fictional World Premiere play about Albert Einstein, will open here May 11, Music of the Baroque will perform May 14, and Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus’ *B-Town: From Barbershop to Boybands will take place May 20.

If you’re craving seafood, there’s no better place to go on the North Shore than Oceanique. As Chef Mark Grosz writes on the restaurant’s website, “We cook seasonally, source locally and organically as much as possible,” so make your reservations now to try dishes like Bouillabaisse Oceanique or take advantage of the Chef’s 7 Course Tasting. Plus, oysters are $1 on Tuesdays at the bar.

No matter who’s performing or what’s showing, you can’t go wrong with a date night at Ravinia. Pack a picnic or take advantage of one of the many dining options at the park and head out for concerts by Aretha Franklin (June 17), Joshua Bell (July 12) or Stevie Nicks (Sept. 9-10), or movies like “La La Land” (with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra) and “The Lord of the Rings” (with Chicago Symphony Orchestra).

This is another great date night option for music fans, whether you’re familiar with the artist or not. And with some tickets as low as $10, it’s a great cheap date night option too.

300 Church St., Evanston

Turn your date night into a mini staycation at this “luxury B & B experience.” Amenities include full use of the grounds, which feature a Bluestone patio and 15-foot stone fireplace, gourmet breakfast with views of Lake Michigan, organic mattresses, heated bathroom floors and more. Check out the equally stunning sister property, Stone Terrace. Stone Terrace also has a long list of luxury amenities including a media theater, billiard room, gourmet breakfast and more.
