Back-to-School Shopping on Chicago’s North Shore

Although we hate to see summer go, there’s just something about back-to-school shopping. New supplies, new outfits — it all leads to a brand new school year that’s absolutely going to be the best one yet. But just like summer, back-to-school shopping season doesn’t last forever, so make your way to these North Shore stores ASAP.

Bookends and Beginnings
1712 Sherman Ave., Alley #1, Evanston

Not only is this a great option if your student has required reading, but it’s also the perfect place to find a fun book your child can bring with them to school. And if your child comes home one day excited about a new subject he or she is learning, you can also stop by here together to find reading material to keep encouraging that passion. Plus, make sure to check the event calendar frequently for family-friendly events throughout the year.

The Glen Town Center
2030 Tower Drive, Glenview

With so many shopping and dining options, you can easily spend an entire day at The Glen Town Center and get everything you need for the school year ahead. And when you’re done, get out of the heat and enjoy one last summer blockbuster at Arclight Cinemas.

Skandal
907 Green Bay Road, Winnetka

Your child will be the best dressed kid at school after a trip to this stylish Scandinavian store. With everything from cardigans and jumpsuits to dresses and tunics, you’ll find something special for your little ones (and, of course, yourself).

Maya Papaya & Tony Macarony
1901 Central St, Evanston

No one does children’s clothes better than this Evanston boutique, but you’ll also find toys and books for either your kiddos or their school friends. And hurry — the big twice-a-year sale is happening now, but it won’t last forever.

Nordstrom
4937 Old Orchard Center, Skokie

Head out to Nordstrom for a wide selection of clothes and shoes for toddlers to teens and every age in between (and always check the sale section to save a little at the same time). When you’re done there, make sure to leave enough time to explore Westfield Old Orchard for even more back-to-school goodies.

Thinking of surprising your child with a back-to-school gift? Have they already been invited to a fall birthday party? Then stop by this toy store, which has been open since 2002 and offers everything from books and stuffed animals to action figures and board games. And when that trendy new toy inevitably makes it onto your child’s must-have list, stop here first.
