Evanston boasts one of the largest and most diverse arts communities in the state. All organizations and artists participating in Arts Week Evanston live and/or work in Evanston. Arts Week Evanston coincides with the statewide celebration, Illinois Arts Week. Highlights include a variety of musical performances, dance showcases, kid's events, lectures, special tours, art exhibitions and theatrical performances. Of special interest is "Public Art Planning for Evanston," a citywide summit on public art in Evanston, with special guest Nathan Mason, Curator, City of Chicago (Oct 20). KidOOdles KidsJoin the KidOOdles Kids Club!
Westfield Old Orchard is excited to introduce their new KidOOdles Kids Club! Beginning on Saturday, October 1 (and continuing on the first Saturday of every month thereafter) kids are invited to the mall's Food Court to enjoy storytelling, arts & crafts and other family-friendly activities. Barenboim and the SVSOSkokie Valley Symphony Orchestra Presents "Barenboim and the SVSO"

The Skokie Valley Symphony Orchestra is proud to present the mastery of two "kings" of music: Mozart and Barenboim. In a special appearance with the SVSO, Maestro Daniel Barenboim will perform Mozart's incomparable Concerto No. 22 in E-flat major. Special Offer for CNSCVB Preferred Partners! Northwestern University's Pick-Staiger Concert Hall is located on the shore of Lake Michigan and is known for its outstanding acoustics. Take time to enjoy some music this October with a variety of concerts including the Chicago Chamber Musicians (October 16), performances by highly acclaimed jazz guitarist John Scofield (October 17), who will be playing the music of Ray Charles; an evening of piano with Earl Wild (October 19), who is considered to be one of the last great romantic piano virtuosos; and marches, popular favorites and a tribute to Louis Armstrong by the Göteborg Brass Band of Sweden (October 27th). See what happens when a shy painter assumes the identity of his deceased butler and discovers he's been corresponding with a high-spirited widow he's never met. So the painter-turned-butler embarks on a romantic journey, and discovers his paintings are suddenly more popular now that he's dead! Composer Jule Styne (Funny Girl, Gypsy) and lyricist E.Y. Harburg (The Wizard of Oz, Finian's Rainbow) are the creators behind the tuneful score, which you're sure to enjoy in this first full production since it closed on Broadway in 1968! CNSCVB Exhibits at Wedding ShowCNSCVB Exhibits at Wedding Show
On September 18, the CNSCVB exhibited at the 2005 Home & Wedding Show. With over 600 brides in attendance, this show was a wonderful opportunity for the Bureau to promote and showcase the venues and suppliers of Chicago's North Shore as preferred vendors for brides to be. Over 250 people stopped by the Bureau's booth, which included sales representatives from the North Shore Skokie Hotel and the Renaissance Northbrook.

Pride and PrejudicePride and Prejudice

Northlight Theatre

Northlight Theatre, located at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie, launches its season in style with a sparkling adaptation of Jane Austen's classic romantic comedy. This delightful tale follows the Bennets, a family blessed with five daughters who flirt and struggle with societal expectations of marriage. Just when it seems love can conquer all in this satirical charmer, "pride" and "prejudice" prove worthy opponents.
